PPP Senator Malik Salahuddin Dogar died at a local hospital on Saturday. He was 71 and suffering from liver and stomach problems since last one year. He was admitted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital for treatment. Malik Salahuddin was elected to the Punjab Assembly thrice in the past. He had also served as Mayor of Multan at the early stage of his political career.

He was defeated by Makhdoom Javed Hashmi in 2008 general elections, followed by his election for the Senate on the PPP ticket in 2009.
